We started Waste Free Systems because we knew the hair and beauty industry had a waste problem — and we wanted to fix it. Our door-to-door recycling service has helped salons divert tonnes of hair, foil, plastics and more from landfill. But there's always been a gap we wanted to close.

What about the solo stylist working from home? The chair renter? The mobile hairdresser seeing fewer clients a week?

You've wanted to do the right thing. You just haven't had a practical, affordable way to do it. That's why we built Waste Free Collection Hubs.

What Are Collection Hubs?

Collection Hubs are drop-off locations where freelance and home-based salon operators can bring their separated salon waste to be collected and recycled — at a fixed subscription cost that actually makes sense for a small business.

If you're seeing up to 20 clients a week, here's how it works:

1. Sign up and nominate your nearest Hub location.

2. Separate your salon waste into bags — use your own bins, or grab a set from us.

3. Drop off whenever it suits you. We collect regularly and handle everything from there.

We accept hair, paper and cardboard, foil and metals, plastics, and broken appliances. (We can't take chemicals through the Hubs, but everything else is fair game.)

Where Are the Hubs?

Collection Hubs are live now across South East Queensland:

• Sunshine Coast — Ethical Brand Co. (Coolum Beach)

• Brisbane North — Salon Depot, (Kedron)

• Gold Coast — Salon Direct (Helensvale and Burleigh Heads)
